As part of Foundry's commitment to sustainability and caring for God's creation, we will begin phasing in the use of ceramic/stoneware mugs and silverware instead of disposable products. Please help us with this effort by donating your used 6-8 inch plates and silverware. We are also looking for volunteers to help transport these items to the automatic dishwasher at the end of each coffee hour. Please contact Jackie Wright, Social Justice Programs Manager, at jackie@foundryumc.org if you are interested in helping!
Power to the Polls with Washington Interfaith Network
Foundry is a member of the Washington Interfaith Network (WIN), a non-partisan network of faith institutions that helps organize people across race, class, religion, and neighborhood to build power around issues facing all eight wards in the District. Due to WIN’s organizing and public demands, our communities have been strengthened and quality of life has improved. The 2022 issue agenda includes:
Saturday, June 4: Help us decorate the outside of our building and the inside of our Sanctuary at 9:30 a.m. with your Foundry friends!
Saturday, June 11: Serve at the World-Famous Foundry Lemonade Stand! This year we'll participate in the kids and family day being planned at Stead Park among other community partners during the parade. We will be serving from 2:30-6 p.m. Register and choose your time slot at foundryumc.org/lemonade.
Saturday, June 11: We are looking for folks to march with us in the Capital Pride Parade with other Foundry members. Email Will Green at will@foundryumc.org for more information.
Read to kids with Project Transformation
Foundry is partnering once again this summer with Project Transformation, a non-profit whose mission is to transform communities by engaging children, college-age young adults, and churches in purposeful relationships. We are seeking volunteers to read to children on Thursdays, starting June 30. Volunteers need to arrive by 9:45 a.m. for reading and each day and will finish by noon. Please join us for this meaningful opportunity to serve in our community! Learn more at foundryumc.org/reading.
